David earned his degree in Psychology and Fine Arts from Bemidji State University (MN). While there, he participated in study abroad programs to China and South Africa, Student Senate, Art Association, and the BSU Rugby Club.

Following graduation, he attended the University of Montana - Missoula where he earned his Masters degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling; completing both clinical and career counseling internships, working as a Career Counselor on campus.

After completing his professional degree, David worked at the Western Montana Mental Health Center, as a Clinical Outpatient Therapist, providing individual, couples, group, and family counseling in a community mental health setting. While there, he additionally participated in homeless out-reach programs serving young adults and Veterans, working with Addiction Aftercare groups, and provided mental health services for Montana Probation & Parole.

He returned to Minnesota in the summer of 2018, transitioning into a shared practice setting before branching out to create his own private practice, Momentum Life Counseling, with his wife and business partner Brandy, in 2019. Since opening Momentum Life Counseling, David has become a Certified Supervisor for the state of Minnesota, as well as earning awards for “Best Mental Health Services” in 2022 and 2023.

Following 5 years of running a physical practice, David has transitioned Momentum Life Counseling to be a fully virtual practice. In this transition, David now holds clinical licenses in both Minnesota (LPCC) and Texas (LPC), continues to be a Certified Supervisor for the state of Minnesota, and has begun expanding into content creation to provide free mental health resources for individuals and couples to access online.
